About The Artist:

Dawn Nelson was born outside of Chicago in 1951, and grew up in Illinois and Wisconsin. She received a B.F.A. from Illinois Wesleyan University in studio art and an MEd from Lesley University in Expressive Therapies. She has lived in Jamaica Plain for close to 30 years, been an Art Teacher at Weston Middle School for over 20 years, has exhibited extensively around and beyond the Boston area, and has been active in the community of Jamaica Plain, including being one of the people who founded Jamaica Plain Open Studios.
